Overview

How we helped Brez cut through Meta’s cannabis ad restrictions and scale a compliant creative engine.

The Strategy

Using Outers’ competitor intelligence to study how other THC and functional beverage brands were navigating the same restrictions, we identified a consistent pattern: the brands scaling fastest weren’t leading with effects or product claims, they were leading with lifestyle, ritual, and social occasion, letting the product speak for itself in the background. We built Brez’s creative strategy around that same principle: lead with “the moment,” not the molecule. Every recommended test paired a compliant lifestyle hook — unwind after work, host without the hangover, tap in before a show — with static and UGC direction that kept product visuals prominent without making the claims that trigger review flags.

The Intelligence Layer

Mapping the Market

We map the brand against the market, looking at positioning, competitor activity, active ads, hooks, and recurring creative patterns to uncover where the real opportunities are.

Behind the Strategy

Every recommendation was generated through our internal creative intelligence system. Instead of starting with assumptions, we analyzed competitor ads, market signals, and performance patterns to identify the highest-opportunity creative direction.

Unique Challenges

Meta and most major ad platforms restrict cannabis-adjacent advertising heavily, and THC beverages sit in a genuinely ambiguous enforcement zone: technically hemp-derived and federally legal, but frequently flagged or removed anyway due to inconsistent platform-level classification. Every brief had to thread a needle: compelling enough to perform, careful enough to survive review. Rather than treating compliance as a constraint on creative, we treated it as the creative problem to solve, building a system that flagged risky language before it ever reached a script.

From Signal To Strategy

Turning Signals into Creative Direction

We turn those signals into clear creative direction, identifying what’s working, where the opportunity is, and which angle and hook to test next.

What Worked Well

We built a “safe hook” library derived directly from what was actually surviving review across the category, not just what sounded good in a brief. Angles built around ritual replacement — swapping a nightcap, an edible, a coffee — consistently outperformed anything gesturing at effects directly, and UGC-style testimonials framed around “why I switched” outperformed produced lifestyle spots for cost efficiency. This gave Brez a repeatable, compliance-first creative framework: one that scaled spend without scaling risk.
